   3 # TeleStatic — Wireless Rocket Motor Static Test System #

   7 TeleStatic is a secure radio-controlled system capable of operating
   8 a rocket motor static test stand.  Sensors supported by the base
   9 configuration include one pressure sensor for chamber pressure,
  10 and one load cell for thrust measurement.

  12 TeleStatic uses a two-way digital radio communications system for
  13 positive indication of all operations. The communications link is
  14 secured with AES CBC-MAC to prevent accidental or intentional
  15 operation from unauthorized transmitters.

  17 TeleStatic operates in the 70cm amateur band at low power using
  18 Altus Metrum's proven modulation and coding schem to avoid interference
  19 with any rocketry electronics or other communication devices.

  21 The TeleStatic board is easily configured using USB for
  22 parameters like operating frequency, callsign, cryptographic key, and
  23 the designated bank number.

  25 A TeleStatic board can also be used as a one-channel pyro board in the
  26 larger [TeleLaunch](../TeleLaunch) system when needed.

  39 TeleStatic firmware is part of the larger [AltOS](/AltOS) suite of
  40 software.  A separate TeleStatic application for use on a laptop at the
  41 control operator's position is currently under development and will also
  42 be part of the AltOS suite.

  46 A prototype system was developed in 2017, and has been in routine use
  47 ever since.  The electronics has been through at least three major
  48 revisions, none of which have yet made it into production.  A "final"
  49 version is being worked on based on everything learned so far, and
  50 we hope to have it for sale by the end of calendar 2020.  Watch this
  51 space for updates.
