   1 I've mostly been playing with the Asus
   2 [A7N266-VM](http://usa.asus.com/mb/socketa/a7n266-vm/specification.htm)
   3 board since it arrived, but a
   4 conversation with a co-worker got me wondering this morning about the RCA
   5 jack on the back of the
   6 [Nehemiah](http://www.viavpsd.com/product/epia_m_spec.jsp?motherboardId=81)
   7 board I have.
   8 There's a jumper on the board that selects whether you get composite video
   9 or S/PDIF audio output.  I've been annoyed by this since I really want both...

  11 A quick check with my trusty multimeter confirms that the jumper is merely
  12 selecting which trace gets routed to the center pin of the RCA socket!  So,
  13 to use both, all we need to do is fashion a cable to pick up the other signal
  14 and a ground from somewhere and route it to another RCA socket.  Cool.  Could
  15 even wire in an optical interface for the S/PDIF like the one provided with
  16 the Asus board, I suppose...

  18 With the ongoing work to enable the
  19 [mpeg2 decoder in the CLE266](http://www.ivor.it/cle266.html),
  20 that board
  21 may end up being a pretty cool standalone frontend for
  22 [mythtv](http://www.mythtv.org/) someday...
