   1 Those of you who follow such things may have noticed that I became

   6 The cool part, though, is how I managed to participate in the special board
   7 meeting to select officers today.

   9 The meeting fell in the middle of the drive from our house up into the
  10 mountains to the
  11 <a href="http://www.rockyridge.org/">Rocky Ridge Music Center</a>
  12 near
  13 <a href="http://www.estes-park.com/">Estes Park, Colorado,</a>
  14 where my daughter is attending a
  15 <a href="http://www.rockyridge.org/programs/jss.htm">music camp</a>.  About
  16 15 minutes before the meeting was supposed to start,
  17 we drove out of the edge of GSM phone coverage just beyond the town of
  18 <a href="http://www.lyons-colorado.com/">Lyons</a>... I turned the car
  19 around and drove back into town and parked adjacent to the
  20 surprisingly interesting Sandstone Park, which is part of a
  21 <a href="http://www.sculpturetrail.com/">sculpture trail</a>
  22 in the middle of town.  My wife and kids wandered around
  23 the park while I fired up my new
  24 <a href="http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF25a/321957-64295-89315-321838-f34-1847110.html">HP nc2400 notebook</a>
  25 and established a GPRS connection through my aging
  26 <a href="http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=us&lc=en&ver=4000&template=ps1_1_2_3&zone=ps&lm=ps1&pid=9757">Ericsson T39</a>
  27 phone using
  28 <a href="http://gprsec.linuxforum.hu/">gprsec</a>, which
  29 sadly is not yet
  30 <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=325389">
  31 packaged for Debian</a>.

  33 Two minor hacks due to my choice of phone.  I needed the flag_time=0 option
  34 on the ppp_async module command line to work
  35 around a bug in the T39 as per the
  36 <a href="http://turtiainen.dna.fi/GPRS-HOWTO">GPRS-HOWTO</a>,
  37 and noauth in the ppp config emitted by gprsec.

  39 Participating in the meeting was painless, other than delaying our lunch for
  40 a half hour or so...  It's really nice when things work the way they're
  41 supposed to.
